Descrizione
The cycle of exhibitions produced in 2023 by Fondazione POMA Liberatutti in Pescia (PT) continues with the work of Florence-born artist Alessandro Ceni (b. 1957), who presents twenty-two works, seventeen of which are previously unseen.
Curated by Dr. Marta Convalle, the exhibition will open on Thursday, 29 June at 18:30. In attendance will be the artist, Honorary President Rita Fantozzi, President Paolo Trinci, members of the Board of Directors, and the curator.
The exhibition itinerary begins at the Foundation’s entrance and continues on the first floor. The twenty-two works on display were created between 2014 and 2023. Two collections are presented: Figure e Natura. Common elements across Ceni’s work include the use of wooden panels as a support and the use of twine, plastic thread, and occasionally electrical cables. In the most recent Figure collection, Ceni introduces, alongside animal bones, a new element closely tied to humans and nature: clothing.
The work Uomo in piedi e fantasmi (2019–2022) is the emblem of the exhibition. Its dimensions and the deep violet background make it unique among the others; it is also the first work created for the Figure collection.
From curator Marta Convalle’s text: «The exhibition is an opportunity to highlight Ceni’s works in relation to the spaces of Poma. A dialogue between the artworks and the surrounding environment, in search of new interpretations.»
The works are available for purchase. For information: info@pomaliberatutti.it
The exhibition is accompanied by a 64-page bilingual catalogue (Italian/English), published by Edizioni Fondazione POMA Liberatutti in the PomArte series. Curated by Marta Convalle with a preface by Paolo Trinci, the volume includes an interview with the artist by Prof. Andrea Pellegrini and a rich iconographic section. The catalogue will be presented at the exhibition opening.
