Corsica, August 1975. While Bastia is shaken by a series of attacks, a prelude to Les nuits bleues, Torri, a small seaside village in Cap Corse, also experiences an event that will leave a lasting mark on its community. Valerio Orsucci, a professor of calligraphic techniques, disillusioned and somewhat cynical, returns to the island after more than forty years. The past—his childhood and Paul Levanti, who died only a few months earlier—resurfaces, unsettling his convictions. His meeting with Théo, a child with a particular gift, becomes an opportunity for Orsucci to become aware of what he is seeking and what continues to trouble him.
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and holder of a degree in Art History, Marco Giori, after many years of involvement in the art world—including serving as director of the Museum of Contemporary and Twentieth-Century Art in Monsummano Terme—makes his literary debut with this first novel set in Corsica, the island of his childhood.
