He began painting at a very young age as a self-taught artist, later deepening his studies in ornamental drawing, geometric design, and the human figure at the Liceo Artistico of Lucca. These studies were eventually reinterpreted through his personal style, abandoning realistic clarity in bodies and faces and placing great importance on the gaze as a form of communication with the viewer. The spontaneous and “unfinished” quality of his line became a hallmark of his work.
His art was immediate and instinctive, almost therapeutic for him. His brushstrokes were swift, his colours predominantly warm, and he experimented with supports and mixed techniques. This genuine, soulful quality made his work a privileged vehicle for expressing his way of sensing and perceiving the world and those who inhabit it.
