The pianist, arranger, and composer from Pisa, Piero Frassi, has brought together five voices with whom he has maintained collaborations for more than twenty years: the Tuscan singers Stefania Scarinzi, Maria Cristina Pantaleone, Silvia Benesperi, and Michela Lombardi, together with the Campanian musician Emanuele Marsico. With him, they form the ensemble HEARTSONGS.
The group takes its name from the beautiful piece by Fred Hersch, Heartsong (also known as Song of Life, with lyrics by Norma Winstone), which clearly expresses the ensemble’s artistic vision: predominantly contemporary works that touch the heart through expansive melodies, refined harmonies, and lyrics celebrating joy and a sense of wonder.
“Music made from the heart, capturing a meaning: live the precious day before it slips away,” as the text of the song that gives them their name suggests.
