Descrizione
The cycle of exhibitions produced in 2023 by the Fondazione POMA Liberatutti continues with the London-born artist Jannina Veit Teuten (b. 1939), who presents thirty-nine watercolours of puppets, marionettes, and figures characterised by intense chromatic qualities, all created between 1980 and 1981.
The exhibition itinerary unfolds on the first floor of the Foundation. The installation follows a uniform visual rhythm in dimensions and hanging height, creating a kind of continuous image sequence reminiscent of a colour photographic reel.
Supporting the exhibition, the Castello dei Burattini – Museo Giordano Ferrari in Parma has generously loaned reproductions of two posters from performances by the Ferrari company, dating from 1935 and 1965.
The originality of these paintings is linked to their genesis in 1980, following a visit to an exhibition held at the Ducal Palace of Colorno (Province of Parma), entitled Historical Exhibition of Puppets, Marionettes, Dolls, Marionette Puppets, and Shadows from the 16th Century to Today (6 September – 2 November 1980). It was a temporary and travelling exhibition featuring works belonging to the Ferrari family, a major name in Italian puppetry.
The exhibition is accompanied by a 64-page bilingual catalogue (Italian/English). Published by Edizioni Fondazione POMA Liberatutti in the PomArte series, it is curated by Marta Convalle with a preface by Paolo Trinci, a text by Cesare Bertozzi—curator of the Castello dei Burattini – Museo Giordano Ferrari—and an extensive iconographic section. The catalogue will be presented at the exhibition opening.
The catalogue may be purchased directly at the Foundation or by contacting the administrative office at +39 0572 1770011. For information: www.pomaliberatutti.it
