Paolo Nucci

Photography Teacher

I discovered photography while attending middle school, and my passion for it was immediate. I got my first SLR camera at the age of 14, and by 16, I began working as a wedding photography assistant.

I had set up a small darkroom in the storage room at home, spending hours developing and printing in black and white.

At the same time, since I was also interested in sports, I managed to start photographing football matches at Empoli Stadium, gaining my first experiences as a photojournalist.

In 1984, I began collaborating with newspapers and agencies, taking on assignments across Italy.

In 1987, at the age of 21, I decided to dedicate myself entirely to photography and opened my own studio/workshop in Lamporecchio.

I continued working as a photojournalist, covering both news for Il Tirreno, with whom I have collaborated since 1989, and sports, traveling throughout Italy and abroad for newspapers and press agencies.

I have photographed the last nine editions of the FIFA World Cup, from Italy ’90 to Qatar ’22, nine Olympic Games (six summer and three winter), and numerous other events, including sports, news, and entertainment.

Alongside this, I have maintained my studio, which this year celebrates 37 years of activity.

I have witnessed the full evolution of photography, from black and white to color to digital, from manual-focus SLRs and film rolls to the latest electronic mirrorless cameras, always driven by the desire and enthusiasm to challenge myself, learn, and experiment.
