Fabio Falugiani

Lecturer in Ancient Greek

Born in Florence. Educated at the Department of Classical Studies “Giorgio Pasquali,” University of Florence, under scholars including Fritz Bornmann, Enrico Livrea, Sebastiano Timpanaro and Antonio La Penna. His research focuses on Greek Philology, especially on the relationship between Hellenic culture and the Italian Renaissance, with studies at the Laurenziana Library on manuscripts written by Florentine Humanists.

He is author of three novels: Celeste imperfetto (2017), La stanza dei pugni (2018), Il fanciullo impenitente (2023), forming a trilogy on the human struggle against the dissolution of all things, echoing the structure of ancient tragic trilogies.

He is currently developing a six-volume series, Firenze, a comprehensive historical, artistic and cultural guide to the city. Vol. 1 Ancient and Dante’s Florence and Vol. 2 The Santa Croce District were published in 2023. A scholar and enthusiast of classical music, he attributes to music a unique evocative power, a profound tool for knowledge of the self.
